Under the Nsaka, people gather to share news, stories, and time together — much like radio has done for generations.
People gathered under a traditional thatched Nsaka shelter while children play nearby and a transistor radio sits on a bench.

Radio aid

helping out were we can

Hindenburg PRO was originally created as an editing tool for community radio. We continue to help NGO initiatives and media development programmes by making the application available at no or very low cost.

We also offer discounts on our products to NGOs working to promote media development and we are always looking for new projects to support.

Although we have limited means, we also offer to support podcasts and audio events that we feel push forward radio as a democratic medium.

Stories begin in places like this — communities where voices deserve to be heard.

Hindenburg is a great tool for our radio production in Indigenous languages around the world

Projects

we currently support

The Children's Radio Foundation helping young people speak up about their concerns and reach out to their peers with over 50 youth radio projects across five African countries.

Third Coast Festival curating sound-rich audio stories from around the world and sharing them with as many ears as possible – on the radio, on the Internet, and at public listening events all over the place.

- Radio Camp NYC a new summer program for middle and high school students to learn the public radio style of reporting and storytelling. Not just by listening, but by telling their own!

Indigenous Media Foundation, Nepal is a non-profit indigenous media organisation founded by indigenous journalists in Nepal. It aims to initiate and support the development of multiple media channels througout Nepal that give each of the 63 under-represented indigenous nationalities their own voice. Indigenous people represent up to 50% of the population.

Media channels include the website Indigenousvoice.com and a network of indigenous community radio stations like Radio Kairan and Radio Likhu, which Hindenburg support.

Gambia Press Union a legally registered union that is dedicated not only to press freedom and media development, but also to the development of Gambia in general.

Giving back

being part of a community

Hindenburg began from the community radio experience in Africa, and we are happy to make our products available at low and no cost to those same communities, as well as to non-profits worldwide. We are proud of our products, but we are even more proud of the community that uses them to tell thousands of new stories every day. From grade schools to college campuses, from podcasters to audiobook narrators and internationally syndicated radio stations, to you. We can’t wait to hear the stories you’ll tell next.

If your organisation works with voices that deserve to be heard, we’d like to hear from you too.
